41 CLUB and 41 INTERNATIONAL
The members of 41 Club have been members of Round Table. Round Table was founded in Great Britain by Louis Marchesi in 1927 and
provided a forum for young businessmen to pursue the following aims and objects -
1.To develop the acquaintance of young men through the medium of their various occupations.
2.To emphasise the fact that one's calling offers an excellent medium of service to the community.
3.To cultivate the highest ideals in business, professional and civic traditions.
4.To recognise all legitimate occupations and to dignify each his own by precept and example.
5.To further the establishment of peace and goodwill in international relationships.
6.To further these objects by meetings, lectures, discussions and other activities.
Round Table spread rapidly from Great Britain and today exists in 55 countries (www.rtinternational.org). Clubs are referred to as "Round Tables" and their members as "Tablers".
41 Club was started in Great Britain in 1945 to accommodate those Tablers who had reached the age of 40, when their membership ceased. 41 INTERNATIONAL
was founded in 1975 by Great Britain, France, Germany and Belgium - (a) to encompass all associations existing of Clubs of ex-Tablers (b) to maintain at
international level the contacts between those Clubs (c) to maintain at the same international level the bonds of friendship which unite all ex-Tablers.
Clubs might be named as 41 Club, ex-Tablers, Old Table, 40+, Old Tablers, 41ers, ex-Round Tablers, Club 41.
Clubs within a country might form themselves into a national Association: these Associations, as long as there are at least 3 Clubs, may apply to become members of 41 INTERNATIONAL.
41 INTERNATIONAL is led by an International Board which comprises the President, the Vice-President, the Secretary, the Treasurer and the Immediate Past President.
There is an International Council which is composed of the member Associations, which meets every six months at an Annual General Meeting and at a Half-Yearly Meeting.
There are approaching 50,000 members of 41 Clubs throughout the world.
Today, the Associations of Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain and Ireland, India, Indian Ocean (Mauritius), Israel, Italy, Morocco,
New Zealand, Norway, Romania, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland and Zambia are full members of 41 INTERNATIONAL and there are 41 Clubs or individual ex-Tablers in many
other countries throughout the world.
Iceland is due to be welcomed as a full member at the Annual General Meeting in Chennai, India, in April 2012.
